Q: What is a Dreamkeeper?
A: We hope that students and teachers will interpret this term in a variety of ways but primarily, a dreamkeeper is someone who works to uplift others in some way--someone who believes in social justice and equity for all and who stands up for the rights of others, just as Langston Hughes did. A dreamkeeper is also someone who helps others realize their full potential, and supports those in their community who need help (or can't help themselves) to become the best they can be..
Q: What format should students use for their written description?
A: Students should use MLA style for all written work (12 point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, name at the top).
Q: When will winners be notified?
A: Winners will be notified in early April.
Q: When will the winning artistic pieces be published?
A: The winning pieces will be published on this website in the Spring.
Q: May students submit more than one entry?
A: No. Only one entry per student is allowed.
Q: How will monetary awards be given?
A: Winners will receive their monetary awards at the Awards Ceremony and Showcase.
